A special auction will take place on November 22 at CBK Zuidoost. It involves eleven works of art by Surinamese artists, which are also featured on the special birthday calendar with Surinamese art. This calendar is published by the Suriname Year Calendar Foundation. The proceeds of the calendars go to art education for children in Suriname.
In exchange for a place on this unique birthday calendar, the artists of Surinamese origin donated the artwork to the Foundation, under the motto Giving Back – giving something back to society in their country of origin. The works are sold and the proceeds also go to art education. Some of the works have already been sold and an auction will take place for the remaining art, organized by board member Nellie Bakboord.
