During the finissage of ZomerSalon Royaal – themed Utopia – the winners were announced, chosen by a professional jury, CBK Zuidoost, and the public.
The professional jury honored two works: the ‘colorful and activist’ I Walk For Love, Peace & Kindness by Janneke Raaphorst and Joseph Marzolla, and Basquiat, ‘technically impressive’ and created with pen by Izzi. The CBK Zuidoost team chose a photograph by Umit Catak. The public voted convincingly for the painting Enchantment by Margot Klein Tiessink and the mixed media work Carrying the World Lightly by Larissa Neslo.
The jury also gave two honorable mentions: The Weight of Touch by Rosalynn van Hummel and Enchantment by Margot Klein Tiessink.

This weekend, we bid farewell to Nelson Carrilho (1953). The Curaçaoan artist, who studied, lived and worked in the Netherlands, was known for his socially critical and socially engaged works, such as Mama Baranka, a sculpture commemorating the murdered Kerwin Duinmeijer.
