AIR in Zuidoost # 2022

Kunstenaars

In 2022, the moving truck appeared at Heesterveld 69 seven times. It came to load and unload the belongings of artists who each spent six weeks at this location creating work as part of the BijlmAIR residency program. These artists in residence were often inspired by the people and things they encountered in their surroundings—each creating new work that reflected on Amsterdam Zuidoost in some way. The exhibition AIR in Zuidoost # 2022 showcases what the various artists produced over the past year—such as the artwork above by Fatric Bewong, which she created together with Bijlmer residents for the commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the Bijlmer plane crash.

The official opening of the exhibition will take place on December 8, 2022, from 6 PM to 9 PM. The participating artists are: Alvaro Aroca Cordova (Chile/Spain), Inge and Martin Riebeek (NL), Sel Kofiga (Ghana), Fatric Bewong (Ghana), Rinaldo Klas (Suriname), Maartje Jaquet (NL), Moritz Ebinger (Switzerland/NL), Sarah van Lamsweerde and Janneke Raaphorst (NL), and Carmen Schabracq (NL).

BijlmAIR is the artist-in-residence program of CBK Zuidoost in collaboration with the Department of Painting and Sculpture of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana, and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
