Het Haperende Lichaam

‘Het Haperende Lichaam’ is een expositie met werk van 13  kunstenaars over beperkingen en aandoeningen van het menselijke lichaam en geest. ‘Ziekte’ wordt in deze expositie niet als iets zieligs of negatiefs benaderd, maar als onderdeel van het dagelijks bestaan; iedereen krijgt op een zeker punt in het leven te maken met  fysieke of psychische klachten. Het is daarmee een thema dat zowel vertrouwd is, maar ook een  onbekende en onverwachte kant heeft.

De 13 (internationale) kunstenaars die deelnemen aan deze expositie maken  intiem werk over fysieke of mentale condities die onderdeel zijn van hun leven of dat van hun dierbaren. Voor sommige kunstenaars werkt het maken van kunst over dit thema therapeutisch; voor anderen is het een weergave van de ‘facts of life’.

The vulnerable body is an exhibition of work by 13 artists about the limitations and disorders of the human body and mind. In this exhibition ‘disease’ is not understood as something pitiable or negative, but as a part of everyday life; everyone is confronted with physical or psychological complaints at some point in life. It is therefore a theme that is both familiar, but also has an unknown and unexpected side.

The 13 (international) artists participating in this exhibition make intimate work about physical or mental conditions that are part of their lives or those of their loved ones. For some artists, making art about this theme works therapeutically; for others it is a representation of the ‘facts of life’.
